I am using Windows 11 with Movie Maker. I've used MM for years and ...
When I upgraded to Windows 11, I lost my beloved Movie Maker, on which I posted so many travel videos. I am a travel writer and that program was my go-to for simple and beautiful videos. I would appreciate any help as to where I can find an"old fashioned" Windows 7 version of Movie Maker, and happy to pay. Thanks for any advice.

Installing Windows Live Essentials 2012 on Windows 11
Windows Live Essentials have been discontinued since quite some years ago. It is never tested on recent Windows builds (including Windows 11) so there's no guarantee of anything at this point even if you manage to get it installed. I will suggest that you consider alternatives, such as Windows Mail app, Windows Photos app, etc.

Yes - You Can Still Download Windows Movie Maker 2012
In December, Microsoft annouced it was ending support for its suite of lifestyle apps, Windows Essentials. The last version launched in 2012 with the release of Windows 8. Since then, the software has been in maintenance mode. Even though the software firm promised to remove the software by January 10, 2017, its still available for download.

Where to download Windows Live Movie Maker? - Microsoft Community
The last update was in 2012 when Microsoft dropped the"Live" branding from the names. As of January 2017, the Windows Essentials 2012 bundle has been retired and is not available for download from Microsoft servers. Movie Maker went away January 2017. That post above has details on what you can do if you still need to reinstall Movie Maker 2012.

First, there is no"2.7 XP version". I think you are referring to the Windows Vista version of Windows Movie Maker 2.6 that is basically a CPU-only version using the XP code for those on Vista that didn't have a powerful enough GPU. The version after that is Windows Movie Maker 6.0 which had both a 64-bit version and GPU rendering of effects ...

Go to the downloads folder and the .exe file is there. I found a site where I was able to download MM 2.6. No need to answer the question. Windows Movie Maker 2.6 (WMM 2.6) is based off of the old WMM 2.1 from Windows XP.

Liz, thanks for your response. I did a MM download 3 years ago, but I was on windows 10. The MM download was part of Windows Essentials. Now I have Windows 11. Maybe someone else can guide me to get this Essentials download and I can try it with Windows 11.

Replied on June 26, 2017. Report abuse. Although Windows Essentials (which includes Movie Maker) is not supported (won't get any updates) anymore, you still can download the offline installer.
